Youth Initiative

The Churches Together in Heald Green Youth Initiative was founded in 1999, originally a collaboration between St Catherine's Church of England and Heald Green Methodist Church. Since then, all five churches are now represented on the Board of Trustees, and the local Churches Together Group has formally adopted the initiative. In 2000 we appointed a full time JNC qualified Youth Worker and since 2003 two "Time for God" youth workers on 12 month placements have resourced local churches, schools and community groups. In July 2005, the Initiative realised a long-held ambition to provide a base for work among young people with the opening of Cafe Unity.

Lee Bassman, who currently works in Bramhall, has been appointed as a youth worker and following a few weeks 'ground work'  we have opened the cafe 2 nights a week for the youth.  The local young people are getting to know him as he spends time meeting and talking to them.  Lee has some ideas for the youth work and we will be seeing them as they work out.
