Justice and PeaceWelcome to the Justice and Peace Page on our Churches Together in Heald Green Web Site. We are passionately concerned about the trading and other injustices in our world. We are saddened by the way that Human Rights are trampled on wholesale, in so many places.Justice and Peace on the Web Don't forget to click on the links at the bottom as well! |

The developing countries of the Third World are encouraged to set up systems of free trade. What then happens? - they find high trade tariffs protecting potential trading partners of the developed world, for instance Europe and America, from the import of their products. They find their own farmers and other producers being put out of business by "dumping" of surplus produce at uneconomic rates that they cannot match. The rules of world trade need to be changed. Because of the prejudicial effects of this trading imbalance, Third World countries need a period of some protection before they are going to be able to trade on level terms. Meanwhile, the hunger, disease, and squalor go on. |

We are VERY keen on Fair Trade. That way the middle people do not dominate the market, and the primary producers are given a fair price for their products. Did you know that one in five cups of filter coffee drunk in the UK these days is fair trade coffee? That's very good but it's nothing like as good as it is at Café Unity Please click here |
